Court Orders Home Returned
Court Orders Home Returned to Margaret after "Duped" by Scam
Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice called this case "a most egregious example" of a type of fraud perpetrated upon homeowners at risk of losing their homes. Margaret Watson, age 76, thought she was getting help so she would not lose her home. She understood that she could buy her home back at a later time. It was all a scam. Fortunately, Judge Demarest concluded, there "can be no doubt" that they "conspired to swindle the home" away from the Watsons. Thanks to the Judge -- Margaret and her son will be able to get their home back.

How about Peter, a "baby-boomer" who is "juggling" a job, his own family of four, his responsibilities to his Mom who lives in the community, and his Father, who after a painful family decision, is in a nursing home? How does the "every single day visit" to the nursing home affect his Mom? How does Peter handle it all? Where does he get his daily energy and what can he teach us as a member of the "sandwich generation?" How does Peter define "FAMILY?"

Collateral Investigation Is Enforceable!
Park Avenue Extended Care Center will get paid as my partner, Ron Spirn, obtained a fair hearing decision which reverses Medicaid denial for nursing home care.
Ron documented for our client, Arleen that every effort was made to obtain the documents requested by Nassau County DSS. When Arleen could not provide the requested documents, Ron requested a “collateral investigation” which shifted the burden to collect the documents to Nassau County DSS. The County made no effort to assist in the collection of the requested documents.
The fair hearing officer agreed with Ron even though Nassau County vigorously opposed. For more details on when collateral investigation can be requested, call us.
