Disability Benefit
For those veterans with a service related disability.
There are no limitations on income and assets.
Pension Benefit
There are limitations on income and assets.
The most common pension benefit is Aid and Attendance.
Aid and Attendance
For those in need of assistance with dressing, toileting, ambulating.
Income and asset limitations apply to Veteran or his or her spouse.
There is an income test but nonreimbursed medical expenses can offset
income overages.
Home Care Benefits can be approved as aid and attendance even when provided
by a family member and can also be provided to spouse of veteran.
This tax free benefit can help offset the cost of home care, and can even make
assisted living more affordable.
Pension Benefits for Surviving Spouse of Veteran
Widow must be over 65 or totally disabled, and meet the financial requirements for the pension.
Veteran Benefits
- Benefits are Income Tax Free.
- Agent Orange settlement payments are not counted as income or assets for pension benefits.
