A Night of Comic Relief for Long Beach

Throughout the recovery from Hurricane Sandy, we have witnessed many acts of kindness and last night was no exception. Long Beach native, Billy Crystal, showed he cared about the people and community of Long Beach by inviting residents of his beloved “City by the Sea” to a special showing of his latest film Parental Guidance.

More than 1,000 residents attended a Special Screening of the film, set to be released on Christmas Day, at the United Artists Theater in Lynbrook. Popcorn and beverages were on the house and laughter was abounding, especially from proud grandparents in the audience (which now includes my wife and me).

Billy Crystal personally introduced his new movie which also stars Bette Midler and Marisa Tomei. He was heartfelt in his comments that growing up in Long Beach was a very special time for him, and that he is committed to assisting the residents of Long Beach in the rebuilding of their City. Sharing his childhood memories brought cheers from long time residents, especially his reference to the Laurel Theatre…

…A wonderful act of kindness, a wonderful evening.
