Red Bandana Game Today to Honor American Hero, Welles Remy Crowther

Welles Remy Crowther is a “True American Hero” for his heroic act of saving many lives in the South Tower during the terrorist attacks on September 11th.  Tragically, he died that day, but his heroics became known later as a result of his red bandana, an item he carried with him every day.

We were honored to have Welles’ parents, Alison and Jefferson on Family Comes First where they shared their son’s heroic story with us.

As discussed in the Family Comes First episode, “No Greater Love”, Welles carried a red bandana with him to symbolize his relationship with his father.  Welles was often seen sporting a red bandana during his lacrosse games with Boston College.

Each year in Welles’ memory, his alma mater, Boston College honors him by hosting a Red Bandana Game.  During this game, the football team and the fans wear items featuring a red bandana print.

This year, the Red Bandana game will take place on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 8:00 PM ET.  As an alumnus of Boston College, I feel a strong sense of pride to honor a fellow “Eagle” who gave his life to save others.  I will be tuning in to ESPN tonight to watch the game and route for the Eagles as they take on Florida State and hope you will do the same!
