Have You Selected Your Health Care Plan for 2018?

In March 2010, former President Barack Obama signed into law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (often referred to as the “Affordable Care Act” or sometimes “ACA”).  It has also been nicknamed as “Obamacare”.  The Affordable Care Act has three primary goals:

  • Make affordable health insurance available to more people
  • Expand the Medicaid program to cover all adults with income below 138% of the federal poverty level
  • Support innovative medical care delivery methods designed to lower the costs of health care

This year, open enrollment to purchase affordable health care began on November 1 and remains open until December 15.  Coverage is more affordable than you think!

If you do not have health insurance, or even if you do, you might find a better plan that suits your needs, visit www.healthcare.gov.  Last year, 8 in 10 Americans qualified for financial assistance through the Affordable Care Act.  New York residents can also visit NY State of Health at www.nystateofhealth.ny.gov to view and compare available options.

If you have yet to consider your health care options for 2018, be sure to visit www.healthcare.gov and do your research on the best plan to fit your needs.
