Joshua R. Berzak

Joshua R. Berzak first became interested in Estate and Trust Administration by watching his father practice law. “When a loved one passes away, it can be difficult to know where to begin. Joshua focuses on the areas of Estate and Trust Administration, Probate and Real Estate. He is admitted to the New York State Bar and is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Nassau County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

Joshua earned his law degree at Hofstra University School of Law where he was presented with the Citation of Excellence in Estate Planning for holding the highest GPA in Trust and Estate Administration and Estate Planning courses in his graduating class. While attending law school, Joshua was the Senior Articles Editor of Hofstra’s Journal of International Business and Law and his student note, “The Palestinian Bid for Statehood: Its Repercussions for Business and Law”, was published in Volume 12.1 of same.

Joshua was born and raised on Long Island, where he continues to reside with his wife and daughter. When he is not practicing law, he enjoys volunteering for various Parkinson’s disease causes, cooking, and rooting for his favorite sports teams.

Katie Ann Trotta knew from an early age that she wanted to become an attorney. An accomplished athlete, she initially thought she’d be the next Jerry Maguire. However, Katie’s father passed away suddenly, without a will, while she was still in college. Katie witnessed the uncertainty, frustration, and challenges that come with settling an estate. Therefore, she decided to focus her practice on assisting people who are experiencing a similar situation, as well as helping people establish a plan to prepare for the inevitable.

Katie focuses on the areas of estate and trust administration, probate, and estate planning. She studied business at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where she was also a member (and Captain) of the university’s varsity softball team. She earned her law degree at Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, where she was a member of the Honors Program and graduated Cum Laude. Her experience in the financial services industry gives Katie unique insights into various aspects of estate planning.

When Katie is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, hiking, playing beach volleyball, and watching the Yankees. She was born and raised on Long Island.

Lauren E. Soule, unfortunately, lost several loved ones during her childhood. The loss of both of her grandmothers was her inspiration for choosing to focus her practice in the areas of elder law and estate planning. “My Nana was always concerned with the plight of others, and my grandmother believed strongly in being prepared for everything. Having witnessed firsthand the relief that proper planning can bring to those in crisis, and the stress it can cause families when someone fails to plan, I am honored to help others plan for their futures and eventual demise.”

Lauren focuses on Elder Law, Estate Planning and Medicaid Planning.  Lauren is admitted to the New York State Bar and is a member of the New York State Bar Association. She earned her law degree from St. John’s University School of Law, where she was presented with the Dean’s Awards for Excellence in Estate Administration Litigation.

Lauren was born and raised on Long Island, where she continues to reside. In her free time, she enjoys scrapbooking, genealogy research, and exploring local museums and parks.

Tommaso Marasco

Tommaso Marasco
Tommaso Marasco

Before joining the firm, Tommaso Marasco had a solo practice in Estate Planning and Real Estate. He missed the comradery of the law firm environment, however, and chose Russo Law Group, P.C. for its combination of technical expertise, national reputation, “family” feel, and focus on Estate Planning and closely related practice areas. He was particularly excited about the firm’s commitment to Special Needs Planning, as he had developed an interest in this area before attending law school. Tommaso is dedicated to forming strong, personal relationships with his clients and providing exemplary service.

Tommaso focuses on the areas of Estate Planning and Real Estate. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He received his Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from New York University. He earned his Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from Touro Law Center, where he was in the Honors Program and served as President of the Italian American Student Association. Tommaso is also available to assist Italian speaking clients.

Christine Fung

Before joining the firm, Christine Fung had previous elder law experience both in the private and public sectors. “What I notice in both the public and private sector is while everyone is living for longer than decades ago, it is not always necessarily for the better. There is a need for elder law attorneys to help the aging plan their better future,” she said.

Born and raised in Queens, New York, and a first generation Chinese American, her desire to help people resolve problems was developed at a young age. Her mother, a solely Mandarin-speaking immigrant at the time, relied on young Christine to assist in interpretation whenever there was a need to speak or write in English. From assisting her mother in the naturalization process for US citizenship to writing a letter to the NYS Attorney General’s office regarding a personal consumer fraud, she was her mother’s advocate even though she was just a child. As a result, she was often asked to assist other family members and friends in similar situations where they were unable to advocate effectively.

Christine focuses on Guardianship, Elder Law, and Estate Planning. She is admitted to the New York State Bar and is a member of the New York State Bar Association. She is eligible for court appointments in Nassau County, Suffolk County, Queens, and Brooklyn as a Court Evaluator and Guardian Ad Litem pursuant to Part 36 of the Rules of the Chief Judge of the New York State Unified Court System. Christine is also available to assist Mandarin speaking clients.

Christine received her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Boston University. She earned her law degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and received her Certificate of Advanced Study of Health Law. While in law school she was a member of the Moot Court Board and participated in the school’s law clinic. “I believe it was not only a valuable experience in enrolling in the health and elder law clinic, but it was also very rewarding to be able to work on cases to yield positive and beneficial outcomes for clients.”

In her free time, Christine and her husband enjoy doing fun activities with her children and reliving childhood through their eyes.
