My father turned 83 this past year, and it was quite a year for him.

First, the laser surgery, and now – he no longer wears glasses. Pretty good.

Then, the hearing aid – my father has been deaf in one ear since he was a little boy and then gradually he lost his hearing in his good ear.

Now he is so excited. He can hear the rustling of the newspaper when he turns the pages. And he never knew that the turn signal makes a blinking noise. He tells my mother that she needs to lower her voice when speaking to him.

What’s next for Dad – I can only ponder.
